Project title: Fistula Patients Treatment, Recovery & Rehabilitation Project

Duration : 2012 – 2016, Initially 01 year (2012)

Total Fund : $19,66,099

Donor : Funded by  UNFPA through Govt.

Project Participants: Poor fistula patients who are  divorced, separated,  deprived from family  and needs rehabilitation &  reintegration support in their own community

Project Objectives:

v  To rehabilitate the cured obstetric fistula patients at their own community by providing life skill training and reintegrate them to the society with financial support from the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) & United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

v  To render psycho-social counseling for confidence building, decision making and mental recovery to ensure reproductive health and right.

v  To impart need based customized skilled based training on Income Generating Activity (IGA) for economical solvency & self reliance.

v  To assist cured fistula patients in restoring their social acceptance and respect thereby reintegrating in their own community.

v  To strengthen the Obstetric Fistula Rehabilitation Programme in order to ensure that fistula patients returning to the community are economically independent with an improved quality of life.

v  To ensure bridging and continuity between the community and Fistula Rehabilitation training centers. To provide accommodation and medical support for wait-in fistula operations.

v  To use the successful patients as advocates sensitizing the community for the prevention and treatment of fistula patients. To create a cadre of Community Fistula Advocates (CFA) for mass sensitization and community mobilization for eradication of obstetric fistula from the society.

v  To create mass awareness in the community on “Campaign to end obstetric fistula in Bangladesh.

 1) IGA Training (Education, Tailoring, Agriculture & Animal     

    husbandry, Bakery)

 2) Rehabilitation & reintegration in Community level

 3) Monitoring Activities

 4) Arrange BCC meeting

 5) Arrange Advocacy meeting

 6) Community Fistula Advocates develop

 7) Treatment Cost Support

  8) Food & Accommodation Support

Major Achievement:

1)    70 Community Fistula Advocates has been developed

2)    372 Fistula Patients rehabilitation & reintegrate in their own community

3)    Case history book has been published
