Four-day long Self-Reflection Workshop on “Strategic Humanitarian Assessment & Participatory Empowerment” completed

BWHC, in collaboration with HelpAge International, organized a four-day long Self-Reflection Workshop from January 20 – 23, 2025 titled “Strategic Humanitarian Assessment & Participatory Empowerment,” through which journey towards Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) program by BWHC started. Through this workshop, a Capacity Strengthening Plan (CSP) under SHAPE project would be prepared and it would be implemented till the project periods (30 November 2026).

This four-day long workshop was inaugurated by Ms. Jahanara Sadeque, the honorable Chairperson of BWHC. In her opening remarks, she mentioned that BWHC was providing supports

to the disaster affected population since inception in 1980. But these were not so systematic i.e. following the strategies of DRR/Emergency response. It was a kind of providing food supports to the flood affected population or blanket/warm cloths during the Cold Wave

or even food supports during the COVID – 19 pandemics. She expressed her best wishes for the participants of the workshop and welcomed the guest came from HelpAge International.

The whole workshop was facilitated by Mr. Bikash Chandra Manna, Emergency Response

Manager, HelpAge International, and Mr. Agustinus Koli, Project Coordinator, Coalition of Services of the Elderly, Inc. (COSE), Philippines. All the Center-in-Charge of BWHC centers along with BWHC Senior Management Team (SMT) participated this workshop. The workshop was

ended on the 23^rd of January 2025 with a debriefing session by the facilitator. Along with the participants, Mr. Kazi Ali Reza, Vice-Chairperson of BWHC and Mr. Sharif Mostafa Helal, Executive Director were present in the workshop.
